Brian “Bru” Brurud, CheckSix, USA

As the most decorated US Naval Fighter Pilot since the Vietnam War and a legend in Naval Aviation, Brian “Bru” Brurud has an amalgam of experience in both the US Military and the private business sectors.
As a demonstrated leader, innovator, public speaker, and survivor “Bru” has developed tactics that brought US Naval Carrier Aviation into the 21st Century; authored numerous classified tactical publications; developed Culture Changing Training Systems; survived 436 carrier landings, 99 combat missions, 17 Surface-to-Air-Missile (SAM) attacks, and 1 aircraft ejection. He is also the featured subject in “Black Aces High”, written by Robert Wilcox which depicts a “…Modern fighter squadron at war…”. While on active military duty, “Bru” designed and built a natural gas gathering/processing facility in Oklahoma and drilled for coal bed methane in Colorado.
Currently he is a commercial airline pilot and president/founder of Check Six, Inc., a performance leadership company comprised exclusively of carrier fighter pilots, Special Operations operatives, and Astronauts. HSE Manager Dr. Med. Aud Nistov, The Norwegian Oil Industry Association (OLF)
Aud Nistov is Medical Doctor (MD) from the University of Bergen, 1987. She also has a Law degree in Labour Legislation from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration and is Post-graduate studies in Management and Organizational Psychology from the The National Institute of Occupational Health.
In her professional career Aud Nistov has worked on Odda Smelteverk, a melting plant producing carbide, as Industrial Medical Officer. She worked for Statoil/StatoilHydro as Chief Physician, Vice President Health and Medical Director. Today she is working for The Norwegian Oil Industry Association, as HSE Manager.
Chris Macdonald, Coach and facilitator, Denmark

Chris has a background in exercise physiology, sports psychology and nutrition, from the University of Copenhagen. He is the creator of the concepts Strong Body Strong Mind and Health in the Balance. Chris is known in Scandinavia and internationally for his very inspiring seminars on healthy lifestyles, leadership, coaching and team building.
Similarly, Chris is known from television. Especially “Chris at the Chocolate Factory”. In addition, Chris coaches group of people in personal and health development, ranging from Olympic athletes to people in the 70s.
Chris has a background as an elite athlete, particularly in rowing at the U.S. National Team. He has also won a silver medal in what is called the ‘world’s toughest sporting event’, the 5000 km long non-stop race across the American continent, Race Across America.
Duncan Lloyd, North Sea HSE Manager, Schlumberger

As the Health & Safety Manager for North Sea operations for Schlumberger Oilfield Services (OFS), Duncan is responsible for all Health & Safety issues in the North Sea region. This includes all aspects of Journey Management and Driving operations. Duncan has worked extensively in HSE management in the oil business and is responsible for developing advancements in Schlumberger’s approach to Behavioral Safety and Hazard Analysis and Risk Control. Duncan is heavily involved in HSE management training in Schlumberger including the teaching of Schlumberger’s behavior-based safety training program, WorkSmart. Since joining Schlumberger in 1989, Duncan has served in various capacities, including most recently as manager of Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) for the West and South Africa Geomarket responsible for Health and Safety issues in 11 countries. He started with Schlumberger and the oil and gas business in Oman in the seismic business. After 12 years in the field working in some of the hottest, coldest and wettest environments in the oil business he moved into Health and Safety Management.
Professor Jop Groeneweg, Leiden University, Holland

Jop Groeneweg is project leader of Human Factors at the Centre for Safety Research at Leiden University. His interest in safety in the petrochemical industry started in the mid eighties when, in a joint contract with the Victoria University of Manchester, Shell International Petroleum - Department Exploration and Production, presented a proposal for research into the problem of how to eliminate the human factor in the accident causation process: the Tripod project. The results of this research resulted in a range of publications and a book: ‘Controlling the Controllable - Preventing business upsets’
As a member of several committees of the Dutch National Health Council he advises the Dutch government on safety and occupational health matters. Recent projects include the development of accident investigation tools for the Dutch Safety Board and research on critical success factors of Safety Management Systems for the Dutch Transport Department. Together with Risk Management Pro from Stavanger he is active in Scandinavia to implement safety programmes in a range of companies.
Yngve Tvedt, Offshore Installation Manager, Statoil, Norway
Yngve Tvedt is an Electrical Engineer from South Dakota School of Mines, 1987. In his professional career Yngve Tvedt has been in many central management positions in the offshore industry, such as Maintenance Supervisor, Commissioning Manager, Operational Manager Onshore and Offshore Installation Manager.
Yngve Tvedt has long operational and project experience from many of the large Offshore/Onshore projects in Norway such as Sture, Oseberg C, Troll B, Njord, Oseberg South, and Brage.
In recent years he has been Offshore Installation Manager on Brage in a period of great organizational changes to improve Brage Platform’s capability to meet the tail-end production period.
He has also been Manager at the Operational Training Center in Statoil. From summer 2008 he has been Project Manager in the Compliance and Leadership program in Statoil.
Brett Doherty, Rasgas Qatar Chairman of the Process Safety subcommittee in OGP

Brett Doherty was appointed the Safety, Health & Environment Manager for Rasgas Company Limited, now the largest integrated gas processing facility in the world, in December 2005. His portfolio of responsibilities, in addition to SH & E, includes Loss Prevention and Risk, Integrity Management and Quality, Security, Fire Service, Emergency Response and Business Continuity. Rasgas, a Qatar Petroleum-led joint venture with ExxonMobil, produces LNG, LPGs, gas condensate, sales gas, liquid helium and sulphur. He has recently taken the Chair of the International Oil & Gas Producers (OGP) task force on Asset Integrity. Mr Doherty transferred from RasGas Operations where he had spent the previous 3 years as firstly LNG Asset Manager and then Offsites & Utilities Asset Manager.
Concurrently, he oversaw the company’s Process Engineering and Shutdown Maintenance departments. Prior to this he headed Facilities Engineering in Ras-Gas for 1½ years. Mr. Doherty has over 20 years’ Post Graduate experience, predominantly in the oil and gas industry. Prior to joining RasGas, Mr. Doherty worked in Australia for Santos overseeing asset management of oil and gas production facilities and pipelines.
Mr. Doherty is a member of the Institute of Engineers Australia, and a Chartered Engineer, graduating from the University of Queensland in Electrical Engineering in 1987. He also graduated in Law with honours from Queensland University of Technologyin 2000.
Diederick Bax, Business Development Director, Shell Global Solutions

Diederick Bax has a master’s degree in petroleum engineering from Delft University of Technology, and an MBA from IMD Lausanne. Diederick is currently leading the Shell Global Solutions business development team for non-Shell upstream customers. In the last 20 years, he has worked for Shell in operational and managerial roles in Vietnam, Thailand, Kenya, Norway, Egypt and the Netherlands.
